From the website: Stitching the Revolution explores themes of revolution through quilting, a medium traditionally confined to the domestic sphere and often relegated to the lower status of craft or minor art. This exhibition offers a new approach to understanding the practice of quilting as an avenue through which to express potent beliefs and an outlet to create meaningful change. Tracing the long history of quilts as a medium for communicating revolutionary ideas, the exhibition pairs historic and contemporary quilts spanning over 200 years of production. Stitching the Revolution features approximately 30 quilts from the Mattatuck Museum’s collection, and loans from New England institutions and contemporary artists.

The exhibition will be displayed in the Billings Farm Historic Barn gallery from June 29 – September 2, 2024.

To embrace the rich tapestry of quilting talent from across the state, the exhibition curators seek to display approximately 50 quilts that span a spectrum of abilities and techniques, showcasing both traditional and modern styles. Most importantly, Billings Farm & Museum will share the stories that are stitched into each quilt and the connection to community that these represent.

During the exhibition, the public will be invited to try engaging, hands-on activities and crafts relating to quilting throughout the exhibition. On select weekends, local quilting guilds will gather and offer experiences to further educate and inspire guests.

The exhibition is included with admission to Billings Farm & Museum.

“Welcome Aboard” to Bayberry Quilters’ Annual Quilt show July 31 – August 2, 2024 at the Cape Tech High School in Harwich. There will be plenty of quilts on exhibit, vendors for shopping and lots of activities for both beginning and experienced quilters.

The show will be open 10 am – 4 pm on Wednesday and Thursday and 10 am – 3 pm on Friday. Admission is $12; children under 12 are free. A group admission rate is available for guilds and other groups; please contact the show chair at quiltshow@bayberryquiltersofcapecod.com for details.

Enjoy a weekend outdoor quilt show on the grounds of the Kellogg Estate. For four days the grounds will show off the color, variety and techniques of quilters from a variety of guilds and groups as well as individuals who just love to play with design. It is open to all to enjoy and you are welcome to come and picnic using the tables or spread a quilt of your own on the lawn. The show is a fair weather event and will not be outdoors if raining or if there are high winds. Call to make sure it is on display. This year our featured partner guild is teh Southford Falls Quilt Guild who will be here "Under the Trees" doing hand work and ready to answer questions and share information about quilting. Interested or new quilters are welcome to come and visit. Down the street on Hawthorne Ave. stop into Derby Neck Library where an annex display of quilts will be displayed as well- we have grown so much. Don't miss out.

The Pioneer Valley Quilt Guild biannual quilt show is taking place this weekend with nearly 100 quilts and, believe it or not, an 8′ quilted balloon. These are just a few of the many things you can see at this weekend’s quilt show. Here to tell us more are Elaine Conway, the secretary of the Pioneer Valley Quilt Guild, and John Roy, co-chair of the Quilt Show committee.
